Catapult King is an entertaining and addictive game that centers around the use of realistic physics to determine whether or not the player was successful in knocking down an enemy stronghold. This title is exceptionally similar to the popular Angry Birds, but it uses a unique first-person approach that makes the game play much more interactive.

This game was produced by EA Chillingo, one of the most notable developers of mobile games on the market. In Catapult King, players will have to use giant stones as weapons against castle walls and tall wooden towers that protect the evil knights of the world, all of whom are constantly kidnapping princesses and causing general mayhem. The player will literally take on the mantle of the catapult itself, and the goal is to destroy as much of the enemy as possible.

One thing that players will instantly notice is that the graphics in this game are quite sharp and smooth, but they do employ a more cartoonish style than any true realism. For a game like this, that sort of style is perfect. The 3D graphics are exceptionally well handled, and there are plenty of challenges to keep the player moving forward. Beyond the typical castles and towers that must be destroyed, there are also special challenges like fighting a dragon. This medieval world offers plenty of fun and plenty of objects and enemies to smash.

In terms of negatives when it comes to the actual gameplay, there aren't many. However, there are some annoying elements to this game. For instance, like most mobile games that are technically free, this title constantly asks the player to spend real-world currency on in-app purchases that don't do much beyond progress the game faster by offering extra power-ups and magic. Players that don't opt for these purchases will have to watch long ads if they want to use any of the same perks, and the ads are relentless. It is possible to turn off in-app purchases through the settings of an Android device, but that won't solve the problem with the ads. This app also includes links directly to the web, which are often associated with these ads.

Beyond those annoyances, the game itself is very polished and engaging. There are more than 100 levels where the player must defeat the main antagonists of the game, the Nasty Knights. These knights have helped kidnap princesses to keep them hostage, so they need to be put in their place. As the player defeats earlier levels, they will be awarded certain magical enchantments that will increase the accuracy and power of the catapult. There are numerous magical enhancements that will not only make the game more playable, but much more entertaining as well. If you have no trouble dealing with ads and in-app purchases, this is an excellent game to try.
